Oranjezicht City Farm Market
Cape Town's flagship weekend farmers market at the V&A Waterfront, with 40+ local farmers, 80+ artisanal food traders, ocean views, and a zero-waste sustainable food ethos.
About Oranjezicht City Farm Market
The Oranjezicht City Farm Market (OZCF) is Cape Town’s most celebrated food market — consistently ranked among the best farmers’ markets in the world. It operates at Granger Bay Boulevard at the V&A Waterfront on Saturdays, Sundays, and Wednesday evenings.
The market began in 2012 as a small community food garden in Oranjezicht on a neglected bowling green site. It outgrew that home quickly, moved to the Waterfront in 2015, and now supports over 150 local producers — more than 40 farmers and 80 artisanal traders — in a purpose-built space with harbour views.
What you will find
- Fresh seasonal produce direct from Cape farms: vegetables, herbs, eggs, heritage grains, fruit
- Artisan street food: Cape Malay curry, burgers, dim sum, seasonal flatbreads, charcuterie
- Craft drinks: cold brew, local wines, kombucha, fresh juices
- Artisanal pantry goods: handmade jams, pickles, honey, chilli sauces, sourdough bread
Opening hours
- Saturday: 08:00-14:30
- Sunday: 08:30-14:30
- Wednesday Night Market: 16:00-21:30 (closed June-July)
Sustainability ethos
OZCF bans single-use plastics, composts all organic food waste, and donates surplus food. It is one of the few markets in southern Africa operating on a fully closed-loop sustainability model.
Pair it with
- A morning at the V&A Waterfront to follow the market
- Cycle or walk along the Sea Point promenade from Granger Bay
- Combine with the Time Out Market in the Old Power Station, 15 minutes away on foot
What to keep in mind before you travel.
No entry fee. Bring cash and cards — most vendors accept both. The Wednesday Night Market is a separate, more relaxed experience with fewer traders and is closed June-July.
