Destination Story

About Time Out Market Cape Town

Time Out Market Cape Town occupies the historic Old Power Station Building on Dock Road at the V&A Waterfront — a landmarked industrial building converted into a high-energy communal dining hall. Unlike a shopping-mall food court, every kitchen here is selected by Time Out’s editorial team from Cape Town’s active restaurant scene.

It is the most accessible high-quality food experience at the Waterfront: walk in any day, eat as much or as little as you want, and leave without a reservation.

What is inside

  • 13-14 curated kitchens with different menus and price points
  • Ramen, sushi, Indian street food, Italian meat and pasta, Mexican tacos, Greek street food, wood-fired pizza
  • South African contemporary dishes by locally celebrated chefs
  • Artisan ice cream (Unframed) and speciality coffee from early morning
  • Cultivar Wine Bar: South African wine list in a dedicated tasting setting
  • Quayside terrace with direct harbour and marina views
  • LED screens and live music for evening programming

Opening hours

  • Sunday-Wednesday: 11:00-22:00 (coffee and breakfast from 08:00)
  • Thursday-Saturday: 11:00-23:00 (coffee and breakfast from 08:00)

Pair it with

  • The V&A Waterfront Amphitheatre, 5 minutes on foot for live performances
  • The OZCF Market at Granger Bay, a 15-minute walk on Saturday and Sunday mornings
  • A sunset harbour cruise departing from the Clock Tower Precinct
