Bay Harbour Market
Hout Bay's beloved harbour market in a repurposed fish factory — live music, fresh seafood, 100+ stalls of global street food, craft beer, and a warm community atmosphere every weekend.
About Bay Harbour Market
Bay Harbour Market sits right at the water’s edge in Hout Bay, in a repurposed working fish factory. It is one of Cape Town’s most characterful markets — rustic and colourful, with exposed timber, warm lighting, and a roaring fireplace on cooler days.
Unlike the city markets, Bay Harbour has a strongly local, neighbourhood feel. Many of the regular traders have been here for years; live music runs most of the day and well into Friday evenings.
What you will find
- Over 100 stalls of global and local street food: bunny chow, biltong, sushi, Mexican empanadas, shawarmas, Malaysian dishes, dim sum
- Fresh seafood from the Hout Bay fleet: fish, crayfish (seasonal), smoked snoek
- Freshly baked goods: waffles, cakes, pineapple cake, lemon meringue
- Four fully stocked bars: craft beers, local wines, cocktails
- Handmade craft, local art, and maker stalls throughout
Opening hours
- Friday: 09:30-21:00 (evening market with live music)
- Saturday and Sunday: 09:30-17:00
- Public holidays: 09:30-17:00
Pair it with
- A boat trip from Hout Bay Harbour to see the Cape fur seal colony at Duiker Island
- Breakfast at the market before walking the Hout Bay village main road
- Chapman’s Peak Drive — the toll entrance is 2km from the market
What to keep in mind before you travel.
No booking required — walk-in at all times. Combine with a harbour boat trip to Duiker Island seal colony. Check www.bayharbour.co.za for seasonal event updates.
