About Chardonnay Deli Kalk Bay
Chardonnay Deli sits directly opposite the Dalebrook tidal pool on Kalk Bay’s Main Road — a relaxed all-day cafe with ocean views through the windows and tables close enough to hear the waves on still mornings.
Owner Charmaine Lilje opened the original Chardonnay Deli in Constantia in December 2014, drawing on her experience working at La Colombe and Olympia Cafe. The Kalk Bay branch opened in December 2018, bringing the same fresh, wholesome approach to the False Bay side of the Cape Peninsula.
Menu highlights
- Breakfast served 07:30-11:45: Piggy Breakfast with eggs, rostis, pork sausage, bacon, grilled tomato, and mushrooms; Avo Smash on sourdough rye; Sticky Pork Belly; Eggs Florentine; kippers; and a full Vegan Breakfast option
- Lunch: salads, burgers, fresh fish, flatbreads, and pasta
- Deli and bakery: handmade cakes, artisan breads, homemade preserves, and grab-and-go pantry items
- Full coffee bar, fresh juices, smoothies, wines, and cocktails

What to keep in mind before you travel.
Reservations recommended for weekend mornings, particularly in summer (October-April). Call 021 300 6011. Very popular with cyclists doing the False Bay coastal route from Muizenberg.

Ground floor on Main Road, Kalk Bay. The cafe itself is at street level with easy access. Kalk Bay Main Road has some steps near the train station area.

Early morning from 07:00 for the quietest tables and freshest baked goods. Weekend mornings are popular — arrive before 09:00 or book ahead.
