Destination Story

About Belly of the Beast

Belly of the Beast is a small, serious restaurant at 110 Harrington Street in Cape Town’s East City Precinct. It seats 30 people. There is no set menu, no choice of courses, and no repetition — the kitchen creates a new multi-course tasting menu every day based on what is available from their local farmers and fishers.

Chefs Anouchka Horn and Neil Swart built their philosophy around nose-to-tail cooking: nothing is wasted, every part of the animal is used, and every ingredient is traceable. The result is food that tastes like it could only be made here, on this day, with these ingredients.
