Table Mountain

Table Mountain is Cape Town’s defining natural landmark and a UNESCO World Heritage Site within Table Mountain National Park. How long should you allow?

Allow 3 to 6 hours for a cableway visit, including pre-booking arrival, queuing, plateau exploration, and return cable car ride. If hiking up and taking the cable car down, budget 5 to 7 hours.

Weather and timing

Cableway operations depend heavily on wind and visibility. When strong southeasterly winds blow, the famous “Tablecloth” cloud layer forms, and cable cars are suspended for safety. Check live operational status on the official website or social channels before leaving your accommodation.
