The Dog’s Bollocks at YARD on Roodebloem/Roodehek Street in Gardens began as an illicit, secret pop-up in a mechanic’s driveway and has blossomed into one of Cape Town’s most revered cult dining spots. Masterminded by Nigel Wood, it boasts an unapologetically gritty, rock-and-roll garage aesthetic.

Their burgers are colossal: 200g hand-formed patties served inside massive Portuguese buns drenched in homemade sauces and wrapped in greaseproof paper (eating with your hands is non-negotiable).
